Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to create a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
